Building the Future
7+ years of experience in ETL, AI agents, and analytics across pharma, e-commerce, and healthcare tech
About Eric Martz
I'm Eric Martz, a New York City based Data & AI Engineer with 7+ years of experience building scalable data pipelines and analytics for pharmaceuticals, e-commerce, and healthcare technology.
My expertise spans the entire data pipeline lifecycle — from ETL development and cloud infrastructure to analytics and machine learning applications.
These days my focus is on AI engineering: building LLM-powered agents and the durable workflow infrastructure that keeps them reliable. I also contribute to open-source projects like Temporal, where I work on making durable execution better suited to AI workloads.
Professional Experiences
Pfizer Consultant
Cut data warehouse request times from 3 months to 2 weeks; led DevOps and Kafka/Snowflake integration improvements.
Brooklinen
Built large-scale Python ETL pipelines; developed marketing analytics APIs; deployed Docker pipelines to AWS; set up CX dashboards.
AllazoHealth
Optimized pharma marketing with ML-driven adherence metrics; led Azure migration and custom API workflows.
Education & Research
M.S. in Data Science (4.0 GPA), B.A. in CS & Quant Econ. Published research on predictive modeling for railroad safety and decision-making in pediatric rheumatology.
Projects & Open Source
Jev Benchmark
Benchmarks and a playground for TypeSafe's Jev "System One" model, tested on chess and on detecting which NPC a player is talking to in speech-to-text games. Jev scored F1 0.96 on NPC addressee detection; at chess, code-computed facts took it from worse than random to roughly 950 Elo. Code, labeled data, and every raw API response are on GitHub.
Open Source — Temporal
Contributing to Temporal's open-source durable execution engine with a focus on AI workloads: surfaced starvation of long-running workflows on rate-limited task queues — the kind that back LLM API calls in AI agent systems.
Bad Dock
Plays a full video inside a macOS Dock icon — no private APIs, no Xcode, just swiftc. Uses NSDockTilePlugin to escape Big Sur's squircle icon mask and streams frames through a ring buffer so memory stays flat. Source on GitHub.
